Access Views
Based on user access and visibility setup on the views, you will find existing Views through the Explore section of the main Menu:

icon displayed near header.

Attribute Permissions in Views
When you open a view with an attribute filter for a hidden attribute, no content will be displayed. For example, if you try to view a list of applications where the total cost exceeds 10,000, you will not see any results if you do not have permission to access the total cost information.
For more information, see Manage content permissions.
Add a View to Favourites
To save a View as a favorite:
- From the Views
main menu, go to the Public or Personal tab where the View is listed.

Create a View
Views present information in different formats to highlight key information and bring attention to them, to compare data or to show what is important to a selected audience.
Create a new View from different places:
-
From an existing View: use this when a View provides a solid basis for a View you need to create. Choose to save it, from its Details tab, as another View to change filters, conditional formatting, and other display characteristics, separately from the original.
- Open the View you want to reuse.
- Go to its Details tab.
- Select Edit
to open its Details page in edition mode.
- Edit the Name of the View to make it unique.
- Select Save As
.
The original View is now copied under a different name. Depending on your access permissions, you will be able to save this new View under "My Views" for personal consumption, or under "Public Views" for unfiltered access.

Alternatively, select the Create button from Public Views or My Views.Figure 5. Create a new View from the Home Page - Choose the type of View that corresponds to the audience and the topic.
- Follow the creation wizard guiding through the specificities of each View during its creation.
- After you specify your criteria, Model Items from one or more Models that meet your criteria (filters) are displayed in the Contents tab or View main area.
- You can keep the View as temporary, showing the asterix
of change or save it for further reference or comparison.
-
Edit a View
To update the characteristics of a View, switch on the View Details tab and select Edit .
Based on your user permissions, the following actions will be available:
- Change the Name of the View: it needs to be unique across the repository View names.
- Add a Description: use the Description Attribute to capture the audience, the scope, and the purpose of the View. It is good to have to remember that for yourself, and also useful for recipients to understand the View when sharing.
- Set Tags so that the Views can be easily found with keywords when users search the most relevant View(s) to use.
- Change Ownership: when a View is created, the creator of the View automatically becomes its owner. You can also become an owner of other users' Views: from the Owner field of a View Details page, select Become Owner.
- In the Display Settings section:
- Use Solutions to refine the type of data you want to use in the View, by choosing the solution(s) assigned to them. For instance: a view requiring both Application information (from Core EA for instance) and Technical Debt score (from the Technical Debt Management extension) may need to be assigned both those solutions to use those attributes in the view. The Solutions field is automatically populated with active Solutions from the MSC panel on creation of the View.
- Choose an appropriate Colour for a visual cue to find or understand the View. For instance, OrbusInfinity uses the blue colour to represent Object Types from the Application domain.
-
Visibility
You can choose the visibility of the View you create:- Personal: saved in My Views and only accessible by its owner. This is the default setup.
- Public: saved as a Public View, accessible by all users of the OrbusInfinity instance and editable by authors or roles with Public View editor feature permissions.
- On creation, the View is in temporary mode. You can then choose to exit without saving or to save the View as personal or public.
The scope of data displayed in the View Contents is defined by the Model(s) selected for the View dataset: on creation, the Model(s), active through the MSC filter, are used in the View. For more information on editing, see Configure filters and filter sets.
When configuring Views, be aware that attributes hidden from a user's role via Attribute Permissions will not be visible to that user, even if the attribute is included as a column in the View. For more information, see Manage content permissions.
Delete a View
You can delete a View in two ways:
- From the list of My Views/Public Views:
- Select a View from the list of My Views/Public Views.
- Click

- Directly from the View:
- Open a View.
- Click

Public Views can only be deleted by authors or roles with Public View editor feature permissions.
See specificities of each View within relevant View articles in this section.
